“Accordingly, the IV advises the Austrian government to also take a clear position against the proposed quasi-gas embargo on Friday,” said a broadcast on Wednesday. The IV is also critical of the skimming off of “excess profits” planned by the EU, “because time would be lost unnecessarily.” In many sectors, the situation for companies is already getting worse, so quick solutions are needed.
Pan-European subsidy
The IV sees the ideas of the Czech Council Presidency more positively. This proposes a pan-European subsidy for gas for power generation and a temporary suspension of CO2 pricing in emissions trading. The latter would be “directly and precisely effective for the companies most affected,” according to IV. IV also advocates an adjustment of European state aid rules. This could cushion the cost burden for all affected sectors and those that face international competition.
