Ingrit Valencia started with a strange victory in the premiere of the Pre-Olympic Boxing World Cup taking place in Italy.

This Sunday, March 3, the first Pre-Olympic World Boxing Championship began in the women’s 50 kg category.

The Colombian Ingrit Valencia and the Greek Anonia Giannakopoulou were to enter the boxing ring.

In the preliminary round, the Colombian won the fight by WO, that is, the athlete did not appear. In this way, Ingrit advanced to round 1/16.

For his part, in the +92 kilograms, Cristian Camilo Salcedo faced the Serbian Dusan Veletic.

In the fight, the Colombian could not beat the European and ended up losing with a score of 4 – 1. With this result, Salcedo completed his presentation at the event.

Advancement of Colombia in the Pre-Olympic Boxing World Cup

Colombia continues its participation this Monday (March 4) with three boxers. In the men’s 57 kg category, Yilmar González will face Mohammad Abu Jajeh of Jordan in the 1/32 round.

For her part, Ingrit Valencia will face the Finnish Pihla Kaivo-Oja, in the round of 32.

While Juan Ortiz, in the 80 kilogram category, will face the Spanish Gazimagomeg Jalidov.

It should be noted that this first World Championship will deliver 49 Olympic places, 21 in all women’s categories and 28 in men’s categories.

However, the eliminated athletes will have another chance to qualify for Paris 2024 through the second World Championship in Bangkok, Thailand, from May 26 to June 2.
