Another blow for the starting point guard of the Belgian Cats, the national women’s basketball team, Julie Allemand. Barely recovered from her injury and an ankle operation at the end of March, the 28-year-old from Liège injured herself in training.

Victim of a muscular injury, she must withdraw from the Paris Olympic Games on Thursday, on the eve of the opening ceremony of the Olympic Games. The Belgian Olympic and Interfederal Committee (BOIC) made the news official in a press release.

Nastja Claessens, 19, will replace her numerically in the squad of the European champions. The Kortrijk native played this season at Castors Braine and will join the Spanish club IDK Euskroten next season.

The Belgian Cats will start their Olympic tournament on Monday afternoon (1:30 p.m.) against Germany.
