Unveiling the new Lenovo ThinkBook Transparent Display Laptop proof of concept
At MWC 2024, a concept attracts attention on the Lenovo stand. This is a laptop with a transparent screen. It also lacks a physical keyboard.
It is one of the star concepts of MWC 2024 in Barcelona and it is on the stand of the manufacturer Lenovo. Equipped with a screen capable of being completely transparent, the ThinkBook Transparent Display Laptop is designed to be able to work in a universe where the content generated by IA will blend into the real world. The desired effect is a little similar to that rendered by the mixed reality headset Vision Pro d’Apple. Thus, in addition to seeing what is happening behind the screen, the user will be able to mix virtual elements with those in front of them. This screen measures 17.3 inches diagonally and its display is done using micro-LED.
The transparency on a screen is nothing new. It is used commercially to display advertisements on windows vehicles in transport or businesses. It has also been found for several years on televisions very high end. But with Lenovo’s concept, this transparency has a real utility in giving a new dimension to the use of a computer in preparation for future AI and their involvement with augmented reality.

The other surprising element of this computer is its keyboard, or rather the lack of it. Instead, there is a touch screen which acts as a virtual keyboard. Practical for transforming the keyboard into drawing tablet with a stylus, for example. As always, there’s no telling if this concept will ever turn into a production model, but Lenovo’s vision may be a promising avenue.
