The Argentine scored two goals and registered two assists during Saturday’s 5-1 win over the Portland Timbers over the Portland Timbers at Mercedes-Benz Stadium on Saturday. Almada became the first player in MLS history to score at least four goals and four assists in the first four games of the season for his team.
Thiago Almada is the leading scorer of the 2023 MLS season, tied with Philadelphia Union’s Dániel Gazdag for first place in assists. Almada joins Yamil Asad, who on September 20, 2017 against the LA Galaxy became the first Atlanta United player to record two goals and two assists in an MLS game.
In the 25th minute, Almada helped open the scoring on a counterattack, finding Caleb Wiley in space, for the 18-year-old attacker to find the net to make it 1-0. ( See here).

After Giorgos Giakoumakis scored the third goal for Atlanta, Almada provided his second assist with a pass to Luiz Araújo, which made it 4-0( See here).
Almada finished his task in the 86th minute, when he received a ball from Derrick Etienne Jr. to achieve the fifth goal of the night ( See here).
Since May 1, 2022, Almada has 25 goal contributions (nine goals, 16 assists), which ranks fourth in that period, behind Gazdag (33), Hany Mukhtar (30) and Luciano Acosta (26). ). Despite playing just 33 games for Atlanta, the 21-year-old offensive midfielder is already the seventh-highest producer in Five-Cushion history (26 contributions).
Thiago Almada -winner of the 2022 FIFA World Cup with the Argentina national team- had already been chosen as the Player of the Matchday 1 this season.
