This invention was born at the end of the 17th century in England, where the watchmaker Daniel Quare was the first to manufacture and patent this system in a pocket watch. Unlike other complications, it originally served a real purpose: to tell the time at night, at a time when electricity did not exist. The function of a minute repeater is to strike the hours, quarters and minutes on demand by pressing a pusher.
