Dubai, United Arab Emirates (CNN) – Interaction continues on the interview of Egyptian satirist Bassem Youssef with journalist Piers Morgan and what he said in his comments about the situation in Israel and Gaza.
Activists circulated a clip from an interview with Bassem Youssef in which he talked about the olive oil that his wife requested from the West Bank. He showed a bottle of oil during the interview and said: “This is olive oil from the West Bank. I go to Jordan a lot and my wife asks for olive oil from the West Bank. It is better.” Oil at all, and olive trees live for about 600 years and are passed down from one generation to another and are a family heirloom.”
Bassem Youssef had published a comedic video clip in which he mocked the situation where the earphone he was wearing kept falling during the interview. The produced satirical video clip showed the entry of a character shooting a beam from his eyes towards Bassem Youssef’s ear as if she was dropping the earphone on purpose, and Bassem commented saying that it was a video clip. He “exposes” Morgan’s “suspicious” interventions in an attempt to silence him.
Bassem Youssef had sparked widespread interaction among social media users following the statements he made during the second part of the interview with Morgan and his response to the question, “Why doesn’t Egypt receive the Palestinians in Sinai?” where he said, “This is exactly what Israel wants, and this is what will spark World War III.” It is the worst solution. These are Palestinians and this is their land and suddenly you take it. Why? Basically they (the Palestinians) are being expelled from their homes and now another country has to take them?
He continued, saying: “Do you see what will happen? Imagine this – and because the Israeli officials spoke openly about the issue and why don’t they just leave for Sinai? – Do you know what will happen? These people will be pushed to Sinai and two million people live in a refugee camp. What do you expect to happen? Chaos and unrest. In a few years, the Western media will come with their cameras and say, “Look at these Arabs killing each other. It is good that Israel got rid of them.” Then they will go to the West Bank and suddenly 3.5 million people will be pushed into Jordan.
He added: “The whole idea, why doesn’t Jordan take them and why doesn’t Egypt take them? The same question… Europe has 44 countries, why don’t they take Israel? In America there are 50 states, why don’t they give them Florida?… The idea that you are Arabs and all of you are the same, no, because what will happen next?” “Israel will move to Jordan and say, ‘Oh Saudis, why don’t you take the Jordanians? This is not a solution.’”
