Jeddah: A unified national platform for visa services has been launched in Saudi Arabia. All types of visas will now be granted through a new portal launched under the name ‘Saudi Visa’. According to the Ministry of External Affairs, visas will be issued within 60 seconds of receiving the application through the new system.
Assistant Foreign Minister Abdul Hadi Al Mansouri said the ‘Saudi Visa’ portal, which connects more than 30 ministries, authorities and private institutions, will make the visa process easier. He was speaking at the second Digital Government Forum which started today.
Hajj and Umrah visas as well as business, family, visit and employment visas can be obtained quickly through the new platform. Earlier, more than 45 days were required from the receipt of the application to grant the visa. But with the new system, the visa can be issued within 60 seconds of receiving the application.
A key feature of the Saudi visa platform is the smart search engine system that helps the applicant know what types of visas are available for each. It also includes an updated personal profile that facilitates issuing visas and reapplying later. Al Mansoori said that the validity of the data was checked using artificial intelligence technology.
