Within four years, the firm had established branches in several key German cities including Königsberg, Leipzig, Munich, and Stuttgart, and launched Deutsche Allgemeine Versicherungs-AG and Deutsche Transport-Assekuranz AG.
Today, Schunck Group operates as an international broker with eleven locations across Germany, and subsidiaries in France, Austria, Spain, and Hungary, employing approximately 300 people worldwide. The company’s founder, Karl Oskar Schunck, is credited with initiating the “Allgemeine Deutsche Spediteurbedingungen,” the standard terms and conditions still used in the German freight forwarding industry. Schunck Group also holds the trademark for the freight, logistics, and storage insurance certificate.
In September 2020, the Ecclesia Group acquired a majority stake in Schunck, with the transaction becoming effective January 1, 2021. Ecclesia Group is now the largest insurance broker in Germany, with over 2,300 employees. Schunck Group operates under the umbrella of the Ecclesia Group as Schunck Group, and emphasizes a commitment to simplifying complex insurance matters for its clients.
