[월간수소경제 이상현 기자] Intelligent Energy unveiled a new hydrogen fuel cell system designed for passenger cars and light commercial vehicles (LCVs) on the 6th (local time).

The IE-DRIVE 100 is shaped like an engine and provides peak power of up to 110 kW.

The heart of the system is a fuel cell stack capable of supplying 155 kW of power, Intelligent Energy said.

The system is designed as a modular system that can be integrated into various vehicles to increase capacity. The direct water injection cooling system provides a more compact modular design. The size of the heat exchanger is also reduced compared to the previous one, which is advantageous for securing space.

Intelligent Energy plans to integrate the first IE-DRIVE 100 system into Changan Motors SUV with support from the Advanced Propulsion Center (APC), which will undergo testing later this year.

“We have delivered the IE-DRIVE 100 for the first system for an SUV,” said Gregg Harris, CCO of Intelligent Energy.

In addition, Intelligent Energy announced plans to develop new hydrogen-powered heavy-duty trucks in partnership with Viritech and HORIBA MIRA on the same day. It is aiming to develop a 44-ton hydrogen truck.

Meanwhile, Intelligent Energy ordered a 1MW electrolyzer from Inapter, a German water electrolysis manufacturer, to supply and test hydrogen fuel for various products including the IE-DRIVE system in June.
