Dubai: Fourteen intelligent pedestrian crossings have been launched in Dubai Silicon Oasis. Dubai Silicon Oasis’ real-time perception and connectivity artificial intelligence platform is designed to detect pedestrians, cyclists and other road users.
This is the first such system in the region. It is developed by Derk. The technology can activate warning signs, traffic signal controllers, and even road warning lights to indicate pedestrians crossing.
It is implemented following two years of continuous inspections. The information of road users and the response of authorities to accidents can be recorded through artificial intelligence technology.
The system is equipped with ultra-high speed and low-latency 5G connection. Once this is implemented, the technology will also enable vehicles approaching the crosswalk to share safety information and warnings.
