The Royal Meteorological Institute (IRM) is issuing a yellow warning for the whole country due to intense rains which are expected to fall on Belgium between Saturday noon and the night of Sunday to Monday. On Sunday, gusts will exceed 70 km/h at the Coast, and might reach 85 or even 90 km/h.
A depression from England will transit through the country, bringing with it an active disturbance that will remain over the territory until Sunday evening. Frequent rains or showers, sometimes intense, are to be expected. They may locally take on a stormy character.
Between Saturday at midday and the middle of the night from Sunday to Monday, the accumulations will generally be between 10 and 30 litres/m2 depending on the region, with very locally the possibility of values between 30 and 50 litres/m2 (on the landforms). The amounts of precipitation in 24 hours might locally exceed 25 litres/m2, justifying a yellow warning for the whole country.
Aft of the disturbance, the wind will veer to the northwest sector and will strengthen, particularly in the North Sea.
