Relatives of the three Venezuelan fishermen who disappeared on June 17, when the “delay” of their boat that set sail from the coasts of Aragua state (north) was reported, they asked the authorities this Friday to “intensify” the search, when 20 days have passed since the disappearance.

“We directly call on President Nicolás Maduro, prosecutor Tarek William Saab, to help us, because we can no longer do anything. We call on the people of the National Navy to intensify the search (…) We know that they are there supporting, but we need more help,” said Carlos Alberto Sosa, brother of one of the disappeared.

He explained that his brother José Rafael Sosa was traveling on the boat, called La Llovizna, and two other fishermen identified as Eduar and Edwin, both with the last name Chávez, all with experience in navigation.

He indicated that, although they have had the collaboration of the Minister of Fisheries and Aquaculture, Juan Carlos Loyo, and with local authorities, they have not found the whereabouts of the disappeared, so they hope that the search will be maintained and extended.

He clarified that the fishermen themselves made tracking days in the nearby area, but that their boats are insufficient to make these tours.

On June 25, Venezuelan authorities reported that the search had been expanded in a tracking operation, which has been advancing to the west of the country and the Caribbean Sea.

Through Twitter, the Coast Guard Command of the Bolivarian National Armed Forces (Fanb) indicated then that the search for the boat – in which the fishermen left from the coast of Choroní, in the state of Aragua (north) – was maintained ” by sea and from the air.
