Inter Milan vs AS Roma Clash: Police Ban Whistles for Lukaku Reception

On the sidelines of the Serie A match this Sunday (6 p.m.) between Inter Milan and AS Roma, the police banned the distribution of whistles. Purchased by the Ultras group Curva Nord Milano, these were to be used to demonstrate against Romelu Lukaku, who left the Lombard club this summer to join the Giallorossi.

Romelu Lukaku’s reception at the Giuseppe-Meazza stadium promises to be hostile. The police have already banned the distribution of whistles planned for the Inter-AS Roma match on Sunday (6 p.m.), for the reunion between the Milanese fans and the Belgian striker, now a Roma player.

“Yet another abuse, whistles have been banned,” the Curva Nord Milano group lamented on its Instagram account on Friday evening. This group announced last month that it wanted to distribute 50,000 whistles to spectators before the start of the match counting for the 10th day of the Italian Championship.

The Inter Ultras intend to defy this ban

The whistles, of which they had finally purchased 30,000 copies, were to be “used breathlessly every time whoever betrayed our jersey touches the ball”, explained the group of supporters without naming Lukaku. The decision was taken by the Milan police, on the recommendation of the Operational Security Group (GOS), responsible in Italy for securing football matches.

Inter ultras, however, planned to defy this ban and give Lukaku a stormy reception. With his 14 goals, the Belgian international was one of the architects of the great 2022-2023 season for Inter, unfortunate finalist of the C1. But at the end of this season, he preferred to return to Chelsea who immediately loaned him to Roma for whom he has already scored ten times, including seven in the league.

The poster will be played out in the absence of Roma coach and former Inter player, José Mourinho, suspended after his exclusion for yet another provocation last weekend. In this context dominated by the return of Lukaku, Inter, leader of the Italian Championship, decided not to organize the traditional match eve press conference of its coach Simone Inzaghi on Saturday.
