| Inter-varsity football: Calicut leads

Tenjipalam: Advancement of the Calicut University, the hosts in the Southern Region Inter-University Football Championship being held at the University of Calicut.

In yesterday’s match, they beat Kerala University by a one-sided goal. Calicut’s progress is with six points. The match between MG and Kannur ended in a 1-1 draw.

MG with four points. The university is in second place. The first half of the match between Calicut and Kerala was goalless. At the end of the second half, Calicut stepped up their attack and missed several scoring opportunities. Akbar’s goal in injury time sealed the victory for them.

Kannur took the lead through Vishnu in the 27th minute against MG. In the 47th minute through Sal Anas, M.G. Balanced. Both sides stepped up their attacks but the match ended in a draw. Kannur will face Kerala in the match from 1 pm today and Calicut will face MG in the match from 3 pm. The championship will conclude today.
