The management of the Mestdagh group announced Monday during a works council meeting a fourth wave in the process of franchising the group’s integrated stores, taken over by Intermarché. Seven new stores located in Charleroi, Châtelineau (Châtelet), Cointe (Liège), Eghezée, Jemeppe-sur-Sambre, Liège and Jambes (Namur) have found a buyer and will be franchised on October 16, confirmed the spokesperson for the group at the end of the meeting.

With a first, second and third waves involving 17, 5 and 3 stores respectively, 32 points of sale have found a buyer.

According to the unions, the seven buyers are not unknown. “They are either Intermarché members or former Mestdagh franchisees”said Marina Bozzelli, CNE delegate.

The management of the Mestdagh group also announced on Monday two other waves of franchises, which will be respectively announced at the end of September and the end of October, the objective still being to find buyers for all 51 former Mestdagh stores by the end of the year.
