Cologne (SID) – Thomas Tuchel has expressed his deep disappointment at his dismissal from top English football club Chelsea. “I’m devastated that my time at Chelsea has come to an end,” the German coach wrote on Twitter four days after his sacking as London team manager.
Chelsea is a club “in which I felt at home both professionally and personally,” the 49-year-old explained on Sunday evening: “The pride and joy I felt when I helped the team win the champions League and the Club World Cup will always be remembered.”
Tuchel was surprisingly released last Wednesday. The split came 100 days after it was taken over by new owner Todd Boehly. Tuchel’s successor is Graham Potter.
“I’m honored to have been a part of the history of this club and the memories of the last 19 months will always have a special place in my heart,” wrote Tuchel in one of “the most difficult statements I’ve ever had to write.” , in addition to that.
