Internists and residents are mobilizing to go on a new strike on Thursday, April 18, to protest the absence of dialogue and the government’s ignoring of their demands.

According to what was reported by the National Committee of Internists and Residents in Morocco, this warning strike comes after attempts to open a serious dialogue with the Ministries of Health and Higher Education, without any response, despite the calls I sent to the Ministry of Health on January 26, and to the Ministry of Higher Education on February 19.

The committee explained in a report that it had placed the demand file for doctors on February 23 at the level of the two ministries, but it remains without any response to date, stressing that after three successful nationwide warning strikes with a rate of approximately 96%, the committee has not received any response from the concerned authorities.

The same source considered that these data indicate the continuation of the policy of disregard for the legitimate demands of internists and residents, while clinging to continuing the struggle in defense of the “just and legitimate” demands of these people.

Accordingly, the National Committee of Internal Medicine and Residents in Morocco called in its communication on all doctors, pharmacists, internal dental surgeons and residents to join this strike, which excludes emergency departments, resuscitation and intensive care.

In addition, the Doctors Committee called on the government to open a serious dialogue with interns and residents to overcome the current crisis. It also called for accelerating the opening of dialogue channels within the framework of the approach that seeks to improve the services provided to the patient and the Moroccan citizen.
