KABUL: Floods following heavy rains in Afghanistan have killed 12 people and left dozens missing, local officials said. Hundreds of houses were damaged in the floods and many people were missing. The preliminary conclusion is that the missing persons are under the ruins of the destroyed houses.

All concerned authorities have been directed to provide necessary assistance to the people of the affected areas. Hundreds of hectares of agricultural land were washed away. The highway between Kabul and central Bamiyan province was also closed due to flooding.
