The Lienz district governor Olga Reisner has been removed from her post after massive allegations from employees. The Tyrolean state government made the decision on Thursday following a report from the supervisory authority and the staff representative, it said in a press release. The reason is an “irreconcilable loss of trust on the part of the employees and the employer in the management of the authorities”. For the time being, deputy Bettina Heinricher took over.

Meanwhile, the public prosecutor’s office is also investigating Reisner on suspicion of abuse of office, as their spokesman Hansjörg Mayr told the APA. The trigger was an anonymous statement of facts. Mayr did not want to say what the officer was specifically accused of, citing the ongoing proceedings.

After the entire staff representative resigned, anonymous accusations were made and a report was made by the central staff representative, the supervisory authority was sent to Lienz. It was said that the allegations had been extensively and extensively examined. In addition to discussions with employees, the head of the authority was also spoken to. Finally, “deficiencies in leadership and communication issues” were identified. “For us as the state of Tyrol, it is very important to offer all employees a working environment characterized by cooperation and appreciative work,” said Governor Anton Mattle (ÖVP). Reisner was informed about the dismissal and invited to further discussions. She will remain an employee in the state service. The state said that the management of the authority would now be re-tendered immediately.

A final assessment of any official misconduct or criminally relevant matters cannot yet be carried out due to ongoing investigations by the disciplinary authority or public prosecutor’s office. “The number and clarity of the personal feedback from the BH Lienz employees in the course of our on-site surveys does not allow for any other step – regardless of the outcome of the disciplinary and public prosecutor’s investigation results,” said State Office Director Herbert Forster.

Things had recently gone haywire in the Lienz district administration in East Tyrol. According to media reports, employees had made massive allegations against district governor Reisner. There were allegations of border crossings, bullying, psychological violence and abuse of office. In a letter to the media, employees of the district administration reported on allegedly unsustainable conditions and a working atmosphere in the authority that had become increasingly strained over the past few months.
