The Public Ministry reported that investigations are advancing together with the National Police to determine the cause of the explosion in San Cristóbal, which so far has left 29 people dead and more than 59 injured.
Fadulia Rosa Rubio, chief prosecutor of San Cristóbal, explained that the prosecutors follow the proper protocols in the investigations surrounding the explosion at the facility of the Vidal Plast company, registered as a factory dedicated to “recycling and the purchase and sale of materials plastics in general.
“We all know that since last Monday, San Cristóbal and the entire country have prioritized care for the victims and the recovery of the bodies of the victims, but at the same time the Public Ministry carries out its work to have an investigation that establishes the proper responsibilities in this unfortunate tragedy,” he said.
He announced that the Public Ministry has evidence that compromises the criminal responsibility of those responsible who, with their actions, caused the death of dozens of people and caused millions in losses.
“The accusing body has proof that last March at the company where the fire occurred, a fire was caused by contact between sparks and a chemical and those responsible for Vidal Plast did not take any action, despite knowing the high risk of their operations”, explained the Public Ministry in a press release.
