investors mixed on the orientation of the key rate

During its September survey, AGR identified investors’ expectations regarding the change in Bank Al-Maghrib’s key rate on the sidelines of its 3e monetary policy meeting of the year 2022.

As a reminder, this survey was conducted with a sample of 35 investors considered among the most influential in the Moroccan financial market.

At the end of this exercise, the responses concerning the change in Bank Al-Maghrib’s key rate in Q3-22 are far from reaching a clear consensus within the financial community.

In more detail, 51% of investors surveyed anticipate a rise in the BAM Tors key rate at the next board meeting scheduled for September 27, 2022, compared to 49% who expect the status quo.

After analyzing the responses obtained by the three main categories of investors, namely local institutional investors, foreigners and key players”’, AGR notes that:

• The majority of institutional investors, ie 69%, anticipate a stability of the TD;

• All foreign investors anticipate a rise in the DT;

• The share of Reference Players who expect a rise in the TD stands at 50%.
