iPadOS 17.5 “confirms” iPad Pro with OLED and more gestures on Apple Pencil

Code snippets found by 9to5Mac in the iPadOS 17.5 beta files are strong evidence that the next iPads Pro will even have screens OLED — as has been heavily speculated in recent times.

According to the website, references were found to a new display firmware technology for four new models (iPad16,3, iPad16,4, iPad16,5 e iPad16,6) — which would correspond to the Wi-Fi and Wi-Fi + Cellular versions in two sizes: 11 and 12.9 inches.

This firmware suggests that the four models will be equipped with OLED screens, as well as that there will be different suppliers for different sizes. According to a recent DSCC reportLG Display will produce all 12.9″ OLED screens and will share production of the smaller model with Samsung Display.

The site also found more references related to a new generation of Apple Pencil. Beyond the gesture “Squeeze”recently reported, there are also two gestures called “LongSqueeze” e “DoubleSqueeze” mentioned in the system codes.

The new iPads Pro and the new Apple Pencil could be launched in the second week of May. These products should arrive alongside new iPads Air and a new Magic Keyboard.
