iPhone 14 Pro may not be as good at photos as Apple claims

The 600,000 participants in the vote only ranked the iPhone 14 Pro … 7th among 16 smartphones.

48 MP main lens, a considerably improved night mode or even an optical zoom reaching 6x, Apple’s selling points to promote its brand new iPhone 14 Pro are not lacking. A bias that seems to have proved him right, since the iPhone 14 Pro is the vintage 2022 model to have met the most successful with customers since its release.

But it would seem that these arguments seem quite outdated once the photos taken with an iPhone 14 Pro are compared to those of competitors. This is what Youtuber Marques Brownlee offers to his subscribers. On a website dedicated, it organizes a “competition” between the iPhone 14 Pro and smartphones from other manufacturers to see who performs the most in natural photography, in low light and in Portrait mode.

The user, by accessing the site, chooses one of the three categories and chooses, among the two photos which are proposed to him, the one he prefers. Marques Brownlee therefore relies on popular judgment to choose the best smartphone among the 16 competitors.

If the test is online until the end of January 2023, some 600,000 users have already taken part. And according to the ranking established by Marques Brownlee, the iPhone 14 Pro arrives … 7th in the ranking. On the podium, we find in good first the Pixel 6A, followed by the Pixel 7 Pro and the Asus Zenfone 9. Follow the Oppo Find X5 Pro (4th), the Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra (5th), the Realme 10 Pro + (6th) and, finally, the iPhone 14 Pro.

If this ranking is not official and it has not been established by photo professionals, it corresponds to what is ultimately the most important: the taste of the general public.
