A Ookla (developer of the famous Speedtest) published today new results from the study on internet connection that the company carried out with the main smartphones on the market in 13 countries. In Brazil, with the inclusion of iPhones 15 e 15 Plus In tests, the results changed a little in relation to what was published last month, with the entry model leading, followed by the Pro models.

In the case of iPhones, the tests were carried out between September 22nd and October 20th of this year, while, in the case of Apple devices, Samsung analyzed by Ookla, the measurements began on August 11th and also continued until 10/20. The company highlighted that it sought to analyze the improvements promoted by the adoption of Wi-Fi 6E, in addition to the variables in terms of 5G infrastructure that imply differences in data from different countries regarding mobile internet.

Here in Brazil, the iPhone 15 recorded the best 5G performance of all smartphones tested, with an average download speed of 533,32Mbps it’s from 35,61Mbps in upload. Soon after, in second place, came the iPhone 15 Procom 523,88Mbps e 35,19Mbpsrespectively, followed by iPhone 15 Pro Maxwhich marked 523,24Mbps e 35,40Mbpsrespectively.

As it was possible to notice, the iPhone 15 improved significantly compared to its predecessor, the iPhone 14, in the period analyzed — perhaps due to the modem X70, Qualcomm, and other developments. The 15 Pro Max model, in turn, marked an increase in 8% compared to the 14 Pro Max in average download and download speeds. 1% when it comes to uploading.

On the Plus models, Ookla said there was no statistical winner in the tests; the same happened with Samsung devices from the lines Galaxy Z Flip e Z Fold. Given the results, the company recommended upgrading new iPhones to users in Brazil when it comes to 5G performance.

US United States

In the USA, the results were slightly different. There, the iPhone 15 Pro Max came in first place, followed by the models 15 Plus, 15 Pro and 15 — in that order. The highest average download speed of Apple’s top-of-the-line was 285,02Mbps it’s from 18,26Mbps em upload.

The other devices varied little in relation to these numbers, as you can see in the graph below:

The iPhone 15 Plus recorded an improvement of 54% compared to the 14 Plus in average download speed, while the 15 showed performance on a 5G connection 45% better than its predecessor. The Pro Max model, in turn, had its download speed increased by 27% and the Pro, in 25%. The new models also topped the rankings in Canada and the United Kingdom.

In all countries, variations could be observed not only in nominal speeds, but also in the devices that occupied each position. Only in the Philippines, a Samsung device took first place, with a difference of just over 1Mbps in average download speed compared to second place, which was the iPhone 15 Pro Max (141.20Mbps versus 140.06Mbps).
