In July, even before the line was announced iPhone 15, we share an interesting rumor about the periscope lenses that will equip the “iPhones 16 Pro“, which would be even more powerful than those present in the current generation of Apple smartphones. Now, a subject of Economic Daily News added even more details about this possible increase.
According to the publication, the telephoto lenses of future professional iPhones will be produced with molded glasstechnology that could bring improvements such as a thinner, lighter lens design and enable the expansion of optical zoom beyond what is already present in Apple’s current line of smartphones — especially in the iPhone 15 Pro Max.
The information, in a way, corroborates the previous rumor, which indicates that the “iPhone 16 Pro Max” will have a periscope telephoto lens with a focal length of 300mm. It would, therefore, be a “super” or “ultra-telephoto” lens — a technical term used to refer to special lenses that are often used at sporting events, for photographing animals or for capturing portraits.
With the advanced plans, Apple would have even closely checked the manufacturing capacity of lenses with molded glass from the company HOYA, the market leader. In any case, Largan Precision (responsible for the telephoto lenses for this year’s iPhones) is also joining the molded glass production network for Apple, which is working directly to ensure sufficient stock.
As this is a more expensive and limited technology, this will result in an increase in production costs for Apple — which, obviously, could have an impact on the prices of future devices.
