However, we should not expect a USB-C iPhone this fall, says journalist Mark Gurman. The change in connector type would not happen before 2023, at the earliest. In doing so, the various iPhone 14 models of this year should retain the Lightning port.

One thing is certain, it was, for various reasons, a transition to be expected, even if Apple is still far from having abandoned its famous Lightning connector, which took over from the 30-pin iPod port a while ago. already 10 years old.

For one, the majority of iPads sold by Apple today use a USB-C port, as do Mac computers, which have used the universal protocol for several years. Additionally, the European Union also voted in late April in favor of new rules that would require manufacturers to equip any portable device with a USB-C connector. The bill has not yet been finalized, but everything indicates that it will eventually be adopted.
