As has been observed year after year, due to the differences that top-of-the-line iPhones have, they generally correspond to the best-selling models in the new lines.
Not surprisingly, this is the case for iPhones 15 Pro/15 Pro Maxwhich grabbed 71% of the display market in October, according to the latest Flagship Smartphone Tracker report, from Display Supply Chain Consultants (DSCC). When analyzing the complete new line, this portion is almost 65%.
In the case of the share of new, more advanced iPhones, the value represents an increase compared to September, when they were responsible for 65% of the total. Compared to iPhones 13 e 14the latest line grew 21% in relation to the first and 16% in the case of the second.
It is important to note that the increase in shipments of the Pro models occurs despite the fact that the most advanced model (the iPhone 15 Pro Max) starts at 256GB — and no longer 128GB — increasing the minimum value of the device by US$100.
The report also pointed out that the largest supplier of displays for the iPhone 15 line is Samsung Displaywith the South Korean conglomerate taking an 81% share — this represents a 1% drop and a 2% increase compared to the iPhones 14 and 13 in the same period last year, respectively.
Other companies have also started manufacturing displays for the new iPhones — the LG, for example, is manufacturing panels for the iPhone 15 Pro Max and has an 18% share of shipments. Meanwhile, the Chinese BOE has a 1% stake in the production of iPhone 15 displays.
