Tehran: Iran has urgently recalled its ambassador to Sweden. A Swedish court has sentenced an Iranian national to life imprisonment for war crimes and murders during the 1980s Iran-Iraq war. Iran’s state television stated that Iran’s action was in protest.
On Thursday, the Ministry of External Affairs recalled the ambassador from Sweden. Ministry spokesman Nasser Kanani said that earlier this month, an ambassadorial process had begun for consultations with the Swedish authorities regarding the punishment of Hamid Nouri. Nouri was arrested in November 2019 when he arrived in Stockholm for tourism.
