Iranian media reported, on Sunday, that the Intelligence Ministry had arrested the civil activist and defender of the families of the victims of the protests against the regime, Farida Moradkhani, the niece of the leader, Ali KhameneiOn her way home in Tehran, Thursday.

Her brother, the political opponent, Mahmoud Muradkhani, who is living in exile in France, said in an interview with “Iran International” channel that his sister was on her way home, but before arriving, she was arrested on Thursday evening, and the family did not know about this until after a while.

During a search of her home, the security forces confiscated a number of her personal belongings.

It is reported that Moradkhani had confirmed, in a call with her family, on Friday, that she had been transferred to Ward 209 in Even PrisonAccording to the Hrana News Agency, which specializes in Iranian human rights.

However, she was repeatedly summoned by Iranian intelligence, due to her civilian activities and her criticism of the regime.

No news was available about the reasons for Moradkhani’s arrest

The arrest of Farida Moradakhani reveals the extent of the division in Iran, which dates back to the beginnings of the establishment of the religious regime in Iran in 1979 and continues to this day, and the gap between supporters and opponents of the regime is increasing in the same house and the same family, even if it is the family of the Supreme Leader himself.

Charity and peaceful protests

Farida Muradkhani’s brother said in the interview that she was not a political activist, because there is no freedom in Iran to engage in political activities, but she was defending human rights and the families of the protests’ victims, doing charitable work and participating in peaceful protests.

Mahmoud Moradkhani also accused the Iranian regime of knowing only the language of repression and imprisonment, stressing that this would not prevent his family from opposing the regime as his father, Ayatollah Ali Moradkhani Tehrani, opposed the regime before Ali Khamenei became the guide of the Iranian regime.

He added, “Of course, Ali Khamenei is my uncle, and he knows very well our opposition to the regime since its establishment over four decades ago,” stressing that the regime will not be able to silence him and his family, as it tried and failed to silence his father.

Who is the father of Farid and Mahmoud Marakhani?

It is Ayatollah Ali Muradkhani Aranj, better known as Sheikh Ali Tehrani, an Iranian Shiite cleric, writer and preacher who was married to Ali Khamenei’s sister, supported the revolution and then defected and opposed the regime.

Prior to his defection, he represented the province of Khorasan in the Assembly of Experts of the Constitution, and one of the students of the regime’s founder, Ruhollah Khomeini, and had opposed the Shah’s regime, imprisoned and exiled many times.

After the victory of the revolution and he opposed the regime and spent months in prison in the city of Mashhad, and after his release from prison in April 1984, he secretly fled to Iraq, where he worked for years on the Persian-speaking Iraqi radio and television in Baghdad, and was participating in propaganda programs against the Iranian regime, but he returned to Iran in 1995, but he was sentenced to 20 years in prison, and he announced in 2000 that he committed suicide in prison, but his family lied the news of his suicide, and his son Mahmoud Moradkhani confirmed that his father died under torture.
