The Tagesschau announcer and enthusiastic triathlete Thorsten Schröder has reached his big goal: Kona in Hawaii. For the second time after 2017 he is allowed to take part in the Ironman World Championship. At the Ironman in Frankfurt on June 26, the man from Hamburg finished fourth in the age group 55 to 59 in 9:55:18 hours and thus secured one of the coveted tickets for a start on the Big Island on October 8. He had been working towards this for two years – and took the users of NDR.de with him on his arduous journey in the video blog.
