Should owners who wish to sell their residence do so now or wait a few months or even years before starting?

Home prices might drop 25% in 2023, according to a recent study by TD Bank, which might lead some homeowners to believe they should rush to put their homes on the market now to get a better price.

However, it would be wise to wait, especially for those who purchased a property during the pandemic, believes real estate broker Mélanie Bergeron.

“I have clients to whom I said: listen, you are paying too much. You pay a higher price, you have to be sure to keep it for a few years in the house, you must not sell it in a year with all the costs that a move entails, ”she said in an interview with LCN.

“It’s clear that in real estate, the longer you stretch the time before reselling, the better,” she adds.

Although it is still a seller’s market, buyers have a little more room to breathe.

Sellers must therefore be more patient and put a little more love into their home before putting it on the market.

“Yes, it’s a seller’s market, but there’s a little more effort to make it a favorite, unlike a year ago when buyers were practically buying with their eyes closed,” notes the real estate broker.
