Israel agrees to the passage of Jordanian aid trucks into Gaza

Jerusalem – The Israeli government’s cabinet agreed to allow Jordanian aid trucks to pass through its territory and then directly to the Gaza Strip.

The Kan channel, affiliated with the official broadcasting authority, said yesterday, Friday, that the small council approved, during its meeting yesterday (Thursday), an important step, which includes allowing aid trucks brought by the Jordanian army into the Gaza Strip to pass through Israel.

The official Broadcasting Corporation reported that the mini-ministerial council agreed, on Thursday, to increase humanitarian aid to Gaza, at the request of US President Joe Biden.

She indicated that Israel will also allow goods to pass through the port of Ashdod to the Gaza Strip.

On Thursday, Biden stressed, during a phone call with Netanyahu, that “an immediate ceasefire (in Gaza) is necessary to achieve stability, improve the humanitarian situation, and protect innocent civilians.”

Israel restricts the entry of aid into Gaza, which led to a scarcity of food, medicine and fuel supplies and created a famine that began to claim the lives of children and the elderly in the Strip, which is inhabited by about 2.3 million Palestinians, including about two million displaced as a result of the war, and which Israel has besieged for 17 years.

Since October 7, 2023, Israel has been waging a devastating war on Gaza that has left tens of thousands of civilian casualties, most of them children and women, and massive destruction and famine that has claimed the lives of children and the elderly, according to Palestinian and UN data.

Israel continues the war despite the issuance of a UN Security Council resolution demanding an immediate ceasefire during the month of Ramadan, and also despite its first appearance before the International Court of Justice on charges of committing crimes of “genocide.”
