Israel-Arab summit kicks off Arab Israel Summit

JERUSALEM: The US Secretary of State has assured the Israeli-Arab summit that the United States will do everything possible to prevent the Iranian nuclear threat in the Middle East. The rare summit, which will be attended by Israel and the foreign ministers of the Arab states that recognize Israel, will conclude today.

The summit will be held in Sid Boker, the birthplace of Israel’s first prime minister, Ben Gurion. Egypt, which has recognized Israel for 43 years, and Morocco, the UAE and Bahrain, which recognize Israel under the Trump administration’s Abraham Agreement signed in 2020, are attending the summit.

Blinken said it would not be too late to renew the 2015 nuclear deal with Iran. The agreement was delayed by Russia’s demand that some of the sanctions be lifted following the Ukraine crisis.

He said Israeli peace talks with the Palestinians would resume soon. Blinken will hold talks with Palestinian President Mohammed Abbas.
