Following the escalation of violence in the occupied West Bank, Israeli forces have attacked targets in the Palestinian Gaza Strip. The Israeli military announced on Thursday that this was a response to rocket fire from the coastal area, without initially giving details of the attack. Previously, six rockets were fired from the Gaza Strip at Israel.
Five of them were intercepted by the air defenses, one rocket fell in an open area. This may have been a retaliatory action by radical Palestinians for another raid by the Israeli military in Nablus in the West Bank yesterday, Wednesday, in which 11 Palestinians were killed and more than 100 injured.
After Israeli military operations in the West Bank, there were repeated rocket attacks from the Gaza Strip, to which Israel responded with shelling.
