The Israeli military once more attacked pro-Iranian Hezbollah positions in Lebanon and suspected terrorists on Friday night. In response to shelling by the Shiite militia on Wednesday, the army attacked Hezbollah observation posts, among other things, the military said. In addition, a fighter jet hit three people who were trying to fire rockets towards Israel. It was initially unclear whether there were any injuries or deaths.

Late on Thursday evening, Palestinian militants in the Gaza Strip fired rockets once more at Tel Aviv and central Israel. A missile alarm was triggered, the army announced. There had already been a rocket alarm in the coastal metropolis in the followingnoon.

According to the UN mission UNIFIL, one person was previously killed in Lebanon in firefights on the Lebanese-Israeli border. Israel’s army complied with a request to cease fire during a rescue operation of several “stranded” people in the border area. However, one person was killed. On Thursday, three people, including a five-year-old girl, were injured in rocket fire from Lebanon in the Israeli border town of Kiriat Shmona.

UNIFIL has been operating in Lebanon since 1978 and is considered one of the oldest active UN observer missions. 175 Austrian soldiers are currently involved in the mission.

Since the major attack by Hamas on October 7th, there have been repeated violent incidents on the border between Israel and Lebanon, raising concerns regarding a further escalation of the conflict. There have already been deaths on both sides.

Hamas terrorists carried out a massacre in the Israeli border area on October 7th, leaving more than 1,400 dead. Israel then began air strikes in the coastal strip. Palestinian militants have fired thousands of rockets into Israel since the war began.
