The Israeli army announced today that it launched raids on Wednesday evening against Hezbollah “military targets” in southern Lebanon, amid the continuation of the brutal Israeli military campaign in Gaza.
He said in a statement: “In recent hours, the Israeli army launched raids on military targets belonging to the Hezbollah organization in the border area with Lebanon.”
He added: “Among the targets, a reconnaissance site towards the sea was attacked from which an anti-tank missile was fired yesterday (Wednesday) towards Ras Naqoura.”
The Israeli army continued: “The raids were launched in response to shooting operations towards Israel over the past 24 hours.”
Earlier Thursday, Hezbollah’s military media announced in two separate statements that two of its members were killed in the south of the country, during confrontations with the Israeli army, bringing the number since the start of Operation “Al-Aqsa Flood” to 12 dead.
For days, the Israeli-Lebanese border has witnessed an exchange of fire between Hezbollah and the Israeli army.
The escalation in southern Lebanon comes after the “Al-Aqsa Flood” operation launched by the Palestinian factions Hamas against Israel on October 7, “in response to the violations against Al-Aqsa Mosque,” amid international warnings of the expansion of confrontations to the Lebanese-Israeli front in light of the “position” Hezbollah in the border areas.
Since October 7, Israel has continued to launch intensive raids on Gaza, cutting off the supplies of water, electricity, food, and medicine to the Strip. This sparked local and international warnings of a double humanitarian catastrophe, in parallel with intense Israeli raids and arrests in cities and towns of the occupied West Bank.
