The IDF stated that the airstrike was carried out following information collected by the Shin Bet security agency and the Directorate of Military Intelligence.
“Its removal significantly harms the efforts of the terrorist organization Hamas to disrupt IDF ground activities,” the Army said.
The IDF also announced that during the early hours of Tuesday they managed to reach Hamas combat positions in Lebanon.
“Israeli Air Force fighter jets hit Hezbollah terrorist infrastructure including weapons, posts and sites in Lebanon,” the Israeli defense group posted on the X social network.
The Israel-Lebanon border has seen an escalation of tit-for-tat exchanges, mainly between the Israeli military and Hamas-allied Hezbollah, since Palestinian militants launched a shock attack against Israel on October 7, fueling fears of a regional conflagration.
Lebanon’s official National News Agency said four people were killed and others wounded in Israeli shelling of the border region, while Hezbollah announced the death of another of its fighters.
