Israel is using birds of prey to search for the bodies of those killed in the October 7 attack carried out by Hamas, according to the Israeli newspaper Yedioth Ahronoth.

The newspaper reported that the Israeli army is still continuing its efforts to locate the bodies of the victims of the attack that occurred in the Gaza Strip, and resulted in the deaths of about 1,200 people in Israel.

She added, “The Israeli forces are conducting ground surveys using specialized equipment, under air cover.”

But “Yedioth Ahronoth” indicated that “during the past few days, at least 4 bodies were discovered near the forests of Be’eri and Kissufim, thanks to tracking devices installed on falcons in the area.”

The Israeli army requested the assistance of the Nature and Parks Authority in locating the bodies, using the flight patterns of falcons in areas near the attacks.

In some cases, falcons were spotted hovering in areas where bodies were located, and their movement indicated the locations of these bodies.

Yedioth Ahronoth explained that “this operation is necessary, given that “Palestinian militants are shooting at the forces searching for bodies,” so part of this task was entrusted to birds of prey.

But the newspaper pointed out that “the search process has become difficult, due to the state in which the bodies are now more than a month after the sudden attack.”

Statistics indicated that Hamas killed more than 1,400 people in the attack, but Israel later reduced the death toll to about 1,200 after discovering the presence of bodies belonging to the attackers.
