At least 45 people were killed and a hundred injured in the Israeli bombardment on Saturday night against the Maghazi refugee camp, in the center of the Gaza Strip, according to a new report published on Sunday (11/05/2023) by the ministry. Gaza Health Ministry, controlled by the Hamas terrorist group.
According to the United Nations Agency for Palestinian Refugees (UNRWA), more than 33,000 people live in poor conditions in the narrow streets of the Maghazi refugee camp, with an area of 0.6 km².
Hamas claimed on Telegram that Israel “directly” bombed homes and added that most of the victims “are children and women.”
A photographer journalist for the Turkish Anadolu agency, Muhammad Alaloul, whose house was partially destroyed, told AFP that his four children, as well as his four brothers, had died in the bombing. An Israeli military spokesman, contacted by the agency, stated that they were investigating whether Israeli forces were operating in the area during the bombing.
The Palestinian Red Crescent also denounced this Sunday “intense shelling and artillery attacks” near the Al Quds hospital and its headquarters in Gaza City, which have caused “multiple victims.”
“The intensity of the bombing is shaking the building and emergency response teams cannot leave due to the severity of the attacks,” says the humanitarian aid organization in a brief statement posted on the social network X. (afp/dpa /efe/lgc)
