The occupation holds a new session to consider the early release of the prisoner, Walid Daqqa

The Early Releases Committee of the Israeli Prison Service is scheduled to hold a session to consider the request for the release of cancer-stricken prisoner Walid Daqqa (60 years) from Baqa al-Gharbiya on June 18.

Last Wednesday, the committee refused to consider the file of the prisoner Daqqa, and referred it to the Committee for the Release of Life Prisoners, claiming that this case is outside its powers.

In turn, Sanaa Salama Daqqa confirmed to Al-Araby Al-Jadeed that the session on June 18 will be held in Ramla prison, without the presence of representatives of both sides.

The prisoner, Daqqa, suffers from spinal cord cancer, pneumonia, severe kidney failure, low blood levels, and serious health symptoms. He is receiving treatment in the Ramla prison clinic.

In a related context, an evening of literary readings was held for the imprisoned thinker and writer Walid Daqqa at the Khasbah Theater in Haifa, as part of the efforts exerted to shed light on his case.

The evening was organized by director Bashar Morcos, writer Majd Kayyal, and poet Asma Azaizeh, with the participation of Daqqa’s wife and daughter Milad, and included readings from Daqqa’s texts, including: “Without a Door” and “Milad’s Pleading,” in addition to the first message between the director Morcos and the prisoner Daqqa, which included At the request of Walid to write a theatrical script for “Parallel Time”, which Morcos directed in 2015 at Al-Midan Theatre.

After finishing reading her husband’s texts, Salama spoke about his health condition, saying: “Walid has been facing families with steadfastness for 37 years until today..Now Walid, unfortunately, is in hospital with a very sensitive and complex health condition..his days are not short and he can be treated and his condition restored.” His health is better than before, but the prison administration continues its medical negligence against him, with the aim of slowly assassinating him.”

She added, “Walid is transferred every two days from one hospital to another. On Thursday, they returned him to the Ramleh clinic after staying in Assaf Harofeh Hospital for two or three days. Yesterday we were in the hospital and asked the doctors to monitor his health condition and his response to treatment without rushing him back to the Ramleh clinic, which does not meet the requirements.” basic conditions for its treatment.

And she concluded by saying, “We are in a battle over Walid’s freedom and his life, and we will not concede.. We are on the side of Abu Milad and with him, despite all these circumstances and attempts, and our belief in Abu Milad is great; he is a fighter, stubborn and solid, and we believe that he will not let us down, just as he defeated them in 37 years with all His battles, the climax of which was Milad, will also be victorious over them in this battle.
