Israeli Hostages in Gaza: Latest Updates and Efforts for Release

The terrorist organization Hamas has released a video showing three elderly Israeli hostages alive in the Gaza Strip. The video, released today by the Essedin al-Qassam Brigades, Hamas’ armed wing, shows three bearded men sitting on chairs and is titled “Let’s not grow old here.”

One of the hostages calls on the Israeli government to do everything possible to secure their release.

The US government says it is working on a new agreement to release the hostages. “But I cannot say that we are at a point where another agreement is imminent,” National Security Council Communications Director John Kirby said in Washington today. A possible deal should also include ceasefires and humanitarian aid. “We are literally working on this issue every day, locally and here in Washington.”

According to Israeli estimates, around 110 hostages are currently being held in the Gaza Strip. Hamas is also not releasing the bodies of several kidnapped people.

Hostages wrote SOS on cloths

After the mistaken killing of three hostages at the end of last week, Israel’s army released further details regarding the incident in northern Gaza. There were cloths on a building nearby that read “SOS” and “Help, three hostages” in Hebrew.
