Israeli Military Operation in Gaza: Urgent Evacuation and Humanitarian Crisis Unfolds

• The Israeli army ordered, at dawn today, the evacuation within 24 hours of all civilians present in the north of Gaza City to the south. Around 1.1 million people are expected to leave their homes, suggesting an imminent military operation on Israeli soil. The UN, for its part, considered that such a population displacement was “impossible without causing devastating humanitarian consequences”.

• The Israeli army announced that it had dropped around 6,000 bombs on the Gaza Strip for a total of 4,000 tonnes of explosives since Saturday.

• A first French repatriation plane landed at Parisian Roissy Charles-de-Gaulle airport yesterday evening from Israel.
