Today, Sunday, the Israeli Ministry of Security approved the purchase of 25 F-35 fighter jets in a deal worth regarding $3 billion in US aid money, according to Hebrew media.

Yedioth Ahronoth newspaper said that with the Israeli Air Force’s acquisition of the new fighter squadron, the F-35 stealth fleet will increase to 75 aircraft.

She explained that the Chief of Staff, Major General Herzi Halevy, the Director General of Security, Major General (res.) Eyal Zamir, and the Air Force Commander, Major General Tomer Bar, were the ones who recommended equipping another squadron of the F-35 (manufactured by the American company, Lockheed Martin), while the Minister of Security agreed. Yoav Gallant for this recommendation.

According to the newspaper, the Israeli occupation army hesitated between buying a third squadron of “F-35” aircraft or buying a squadron of modern “F-I15” aircraft, before making the decision and inclination to buy the “F-35” due to the speed of processing and supplying it.

The United States annually provides aid to the Israeli occupation state, as part of a long-term commitment made during the Barack Obama administration, to grant Tel Aviv $38 billion over a full decade between 2017 and 2028.

In June 2016, Israel received its first F-35 stealth fighter from the United States.
