A Palestinian terrorist was killed after attacking the Israeli Police in Jerusalem
A Palestinian terrorist opened fire on Thursday night against Israeli agents in a police station in Jerusalem, leaving two uniformed officers injured, reported the Police, who killed the attacker in the midst of the new war between Israel and the Islamist movement Hamas.

The assailant, a native of the Palestinian neighborhood of Beit Hanina, fired at the Israeli police officers with a submachine gun at a police station near the Old City.
“A terrorist armed with a submachine gun opened fire on police officers at the entrance to the Shalem police station in the Jerusalem district,” a police spokesperson reported.

The attacker tried to flee and “the police officers chased him and neutralized him,” he added.
Another police spokesperson confirmed to the EFE agency that the attacker died.

Numerous police forces, including mounted police and trained dogs, were deployed to the scene, near the Damascus Gate of the Old City, while a helicopter flew overhead.

“Searches are being carried out in the area to rule out any accomplices,” the Police stressed.
Although the identity of the attacker has not yet been revealed, Israeli authorities often label Palestinians who commit crimes for nationalist reasons as “terrorists.”
“Two police officers were injured, one in serious condition who is receiving medical treatment, and the other in minor condition,” the Police said.
Emergency services confirmed they are providing treatment to two officers.
Israeli forces are on high alert after Israel declared war last Saturday after suffering an unprecedented surprise attack by the Islamist movement Hamas, which de facto governs the Gaza Strip.
The aggression included the launching of thousands of rockets and the infiltration of some 1,000 militiamen into Israeli soil who massacred and kidnapped numerous inhabitants of the villages bordering Gaza.
Since then, Israel has counterattacked with bombings on the Palestinian enclave and armed confrontations against infiltrated militiamen, in a war that is in its sixth day and has left more than 3,700 dead on both sides of the border.
Since its attack, Hamas has called on Palestinians living in the occupied West Bank and east Jerusalem to join in the offensive against Israeli forces, and Thursday’s incident is the first armed attack in Jerusalem since the war began.
