On Thursday, the Israeli army pledged to take disciplinary measures against soldiers who appeared in a “dangerous” video clip inside a mosque in Jenin in the West Bank.
Israeli army spokesman Avichai Adraee said on the “X” platform that the soldiers who appeared in the video clip “were removed from operational activity immediately, as soon as the video clips were received and the commanders conducted a preliminary investigation into the circumstances of the incident.”
Adraee described the behavior of the fighters who appear in the videos as “dangerous and completely inconsistent” with the values of the Israeli army, vowing to take disciplinary measures against the soldiers accordingly.
On Thursday, video clips spread showing Israeli soldiers inside a mosque in the Jenin refugee camp, where one of them chanted Jewish prayers over a loudspeaker, while another climbed up to the mosque’s pulpit and also chanted Jewish prayers.
The past few days have witnessed an escalation of clashes in the West Bank. The Palestinian Ministry of Health said on Thursday that at least 11 had been killed in ongoing raids in Jenin since Tuesday.
On Wednesday, the Associated Press reported that recorded video clips and pictures had recently spread showing Israeli soldiers behaving in a humiliating manner in Gaza, such as chanting racist slogans calling for the erasure of Gaza and displaying women’s underwear.
According to the agency, the recorded clips were filmed by the soldiers themselves while they were in Gaza, which caused embarrassment for the Israeli army at a time when it is facing international criticism for its “violent tactics” and the high number of civilian deaths in Gaza.

The clips appeared a few days after pictures and video clips of Palestinians detained in Gaza were leaked, stripped of their clothes, blindfolded and handcuffed, which also attracted the attention of the international community.
