Israeli sources indicated that the Israeli government threatened Hezbollah that it would strike Damascus and expose the Syrian president to danger if he entered the ongoing conflict in Gaza.

According to the Israeli newspaper “Yedioth Ahronoth”, Israel sent a warning to the Lebanese Hezbollah, via France, that if it entered the war, Israel might “direct strikes against Damascus, such as the strikes it directed against the southern suburbs, and that Syrian President Bashar al-Assad and his regime would be in danger.”

These sources said that the US administration is requesting authorization from Congress to use force against Hezbollah if it enters the war.

On Sunday, the Lebanese Hezbollah, which is listed on the US terrorist list, claimed responsibility for a missile attack and artillery shelling on the Shebaa Farms area, according to Archyde.com.

The pro-Iranian Lebanese party said that the bombing that targeted Israel “comes in solidarity with the Palestinian people.”

The Israeli army responded “to the missile attack from Lebanon,” with a drone strike that bombed “infrastructure belonging to the terrorist Hezbollah in the Mount Rus (Har Dov) area,” army spokesman Avichay Adraee announced.

The Israeli army announced that it had bombed a tent that had been set up by Hezbollah militias in Shebaa Farms.
