Israel’s Strikes on Hamas: Elimination Efforts & Civilian Protection

JERUSALEM – Israel has struck nearly 5,000 Hamas sites in the Gaza Strip since the conflict began on October 7. A senior Israeli official also said a “large number” of other attacks had been avoided as part of an effort to avoid harm to Palestinian civilians.

The number of exceptions was not specified. In the wake of the October 7 incursion, the official also stated that Israel is determined to eliminate Hamas, whether it takes months or years. Nearly 3,000 Palestinians have been killed in the bombing of Gaza so far.

Meanwhile, a senior Hamas commander was killed in an Israeli airstrike in Gaza, Hamas’ armed wing said. Ayman Nofal, a member of the High Military Council of the Is al-Din al-Qassam Brigades, was killed. He was in charge of the Central Gaza Strip.
