As it turned out, the 60-year-old celebrity ignored the main film award of the year in order to prevent an “embarrassing run-in” with his ex-wife Nicole Kidman, whom he divorced more than 20 years ago.
According to media reports, Cruz refused to attend the event, knowing that Kidman would attend. Since the two celebrities divorced, they haven’t been seen together in public, and it looks like the actor wants to keep it that way.
However, the exact reason for Cruise’s absence from the Oscars is unknown, as Cruise’s and Kidman’s reps have not commented on the matter.
