“It is disastrous”: the hard clash between senators Moreira and Edwards in session for the constituent process | National

“I am not going to be held hostage by a character who thinks he knows everything, and as the senator rightly says, disastrous…”, Senator Iván Moreira summoned his Republican counterpart, Rojo Edwards.

The Republican Party Senator Rojo Edwards unsuccessfully tried to suspend the session in which the reform of the constituent process was voted on, receiving harsh criticism from his UDI counterpart, Ivan Moreira.

Let us remember that the opposition parliamentarian asked yesterday, Tuesday, to paralyze the process to process the constitutional reform that will allow a new process to draft a Magna Carta.

The foregoing, after demanding that President Gabriel Boric annul the pardons to those convicted during the social outbreak and to the ex-frontist, Jorge Mateluna.

This day, meanwhile, returned to the charge during the session of the Senate, where the initiative is voted on in particular, alluding to a point of regulation, supposedly due to the lack of quorum.

In fact, he even accused the President of the Senate, Álvaro Elizalde, of “missing the truth”, warning that he will request the videos to supposedly demonstrate what happened.

In this regard, the latter rejected his summons, ensuring that everything complied with the regulations.

Then he took the floor Senator UDI Ivan Moreira, who harshly lashed out at his opposition colleague, Rojo Edwards.

After giving his support to the Senate board of directors, the unionist parliamentarian accused a “trick” by Rojo Edwards.

“We cannot be held hostage by a single senator, who when it suits him comes to Chile Vamos, hugs us and then stabs us from behind with a knife. That’s how things should be said.”

“And especially when it comes to travel… ‘Please, name me in the International Parliamentary Union and I represent you’… therefore, I am not here to delay an issue that we all agree on,” he added.

“I am not going to be held hostage by a character who thinks he knows everything, and as the senator rightly says, disastrous… And do you know why he is disastrous? Simply, because he talks about freedom and democracy, and when today we want to vote for something that benefits freedom and democracy, they look for tricks ”, he declared.
